When the Jr. NBA National Training Camp tips off on May 12th, the Orlando Magic’s Elfrid Payton will inspire the country’s young and aspiring talent. Payton is set to join a mixture of coaches in search for this year’s 15 best players.
The third year player out of Louisiana has only gotten better in the NBA with his uptempo style of play. Besides his crazy hairdo, Payton is such a fun and athletic player to watch. He has the size of an average wingman and the court vision of an elite point guard.
What makes him lethal is his ability to score at will. Payton marked an average of 12.5 points last season at an effective 47% field goal percentage, that’s not too shabby for a young point guard. It’s also hard to ignore that for the past three years, he’s averaged almost seven assists and four rebounds per outing.
The good news is that he hasn’t reached his basketball ceiling yet.
He’s the kind of point guard you’d want to have on your team. A strong, versatile, and consistent floor general for a fast-paced team is perfect. Payton’s gameplay is something to look forward to for Jr.NBA NTC participants. For most part, All-Star hopefuls will be given the chance to be exposed to elite NBA talent and learn what it takes to excel in the game.
Be sure to catch him this May 12 at the Don Bosco Technical Institute – Makati campus and on May 13-14 at the SM Mall of Asia, as he gives this year’s All-Star hopefuls a high-level basketball clinic.
